Leadership

Few appointments shape a storage developer as much as the development director. We search for leaders who decide which projects deserve investment, and who can take them through consent and connection.

In one business the development director leads origination and landowner relationships. In another, they run planning, grid applications and a team of project managers. In a third, they own the whole pipeline to financial close. We begin every search by agreeing which version of the role your business needs.
Site judgement: knowing which locations are worth pursuing and when to release a project rather than push it forward. Planning literacy: managing consultants, anticipating objections and engaging constructively with communities. Grid literacy: since connections reform, a development leader who cannot engage confidently on connection offers, milestones and readiness evidence will struggle. Leadership: as pipelines grow, development directors spend more time building teams and reporting to boards and investors.
Headline pipeline numbers say little on their own. We look at what candidates personally decided, which projects they stopped and why, how many reached construction, and how they protected value through reform and planning change.
Not necessarily. Strong candidates also come from solar, onshore wind and network businesses, provided they have relevant planning and grid experience and the commercial judgement the role needs.
We search for development leadership at director and head of level, depending on the size and structure of the business.
